The Island
of Malta is situated between Sicily and the coast of North Africa.
The sun shines the whole year round on its North African-like landscape.
Malta has a more diverse culture, and has played a greater role
in history, than almost any other island on earth. The Phoenicians,
the Romans, the French and the British have all come and gone. Now
it's your turn!
Today Malta
is one of the most Catholic countries in the world; nowhere else
are there so many religious holidays or so many churches per square
mile. However, what makes Malta so interesting for a language course,
is the legacy left behind by the British, who needed the island
for its strategic value, well into the 1960s.
Our school
in Malta. Just as in all other former colonies, the judicial system
and British administration has remained in place. English is an
official and cultural language. The education system is very British
and Maltese language schools are greatly respected throughout Europe.

Language
school in Malta
The "Languages
PLUS" school is ideally located in St Julians', only a few minutes
from Sliema and ten minutes from the islands capital, Valetta--the
cultural center of the island. St Julians' was originally a tiny
fishing village, built round a small bay. It has retained most of
its charm, thanks to some sympathetic restoration.
Our campus
has one of the largest Olympic sized swimming pools on the island
and is the central focus of the school. Whether you're in class,
relaxing in your room or having a meal in the café, the pool is
always only a few feet away. There is plenty to do after class on
campus, sun bathe and swim in the pool, simply stroll in the gardens,
play a organized game of beach volleyball on our volleyball courts
or relax and unwind in our terraced restaurant.
The school
is truly international and students come from all over the world
to study English for either educational reasons or for a learning
holiday.

Activities
and lifestyle in Malta
The Maltese
mentality is basically Mediteranean - a cool mixture of Arabic,
Italian, Spanish and British. They drive on the left (like in Britain)
and they insist on having a siesta (like in Arabic countries and
Spain). Otherwise the Maltese are tolerant and open minded, interested
in all cultures.
The climate
in Malta is warm and inviting. There are no biting winds, fog, snow
or frost. Rain falls only for very short periods, averaging about
20 inches annually. The temperature averages 57.5 degrees Fahrenheit
in winter (Nov-Apr) and 89.6 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer
(May-Oct). The sun shines for an average of 6.46 hours per day in
winter and 10.11 hours during summer. The hottest period is from
mid-July through mid-September.
